All right class. Believe it or not, biomes has a lot to do with what we have been discovering about animals and their taxonomy. Biomes is more about WHERE animals are located.
Go to The World's Biomes. Use this site to get data to answer the following questions.
1. Give me your definition of a biome. You can use another site to get a different definition.
2. What are the major biomes on our planet?
3. What are the characteristics of each biome?
4. Type your answers in a comment and publish with your first name only.

The major Biomes : Freshwater,Marine,Deserts,Forest,Grassland, and tundra.
Characteristics:
Freshwater-Freshwater areas have no-salty water sources, gets a lot of rain, and it has many plants and animals that live near them.
Marine-Marine areas have salty water, few plants, and many types of marine life.
Deserts- Deserts don't have many plants, has desert accustomed animals,it's dry,and it's hot.
Forest-Forest areas have many plants, gets good amounts of rain, has many animals, and cool temperatures.
Grassland-Grasslands have many plants,warm climates,hills,green,has many inhabitants,and get a lot of rain.
Tundra-Tundras are extremely cold, doesn't have many animals,a little amount of plants, gets water from melted ice and snow, doesn't get much rain, and plants only grow in one season, but not for long.

3.Freshwater have alot water and rivers/lake/and is different a oceans because the rivers not have seal.Marine have alot water and plant by all the water have seal and different animal can life and out the water or can life and different water.Desert not have alot water and not have plant and threes .Forest have water and plant and threes and big plies.Tundra have water and ice and plant and threes and animal.luz
2: The major biomes are freshwater, marine, desert, grassland, and tundra.
3:The characteristics of a desert are very little rain, have a considerable amount of specialized vegetation, specialized vertabrate and invertabrate animals, soils have an abundant of nutrients because the plants need only water to become very productive and have very little or no organic matter.
The characteristics of the forest biomes are trees and woody vegetation.
The grassland biomes' characteristics are lots of different plants, mostly wild grass, wildflowers, and some trees. The grasslands aren't always just hot or just cold most are a mix of both.
The freshwater biomes' characteristic is that the water is not salty and many things like flowers and trees grow around them. The freshwater is in ponds, lakes, rivers, and streams.
The marine biomes are oceans, seas, coral reefs, and estuaries. The characteristics are that the water is salty, their is a constant mix of warm and cold water in the currents, and many creatures live in this biome.
The tundra biomes are arctic tundra and alpine tundra. The arctic tundra's characteristics are lots of different plants, low shrubs, sedges, liverworts, grasses, 400 different types of flowers crustose and foliose lichen. The alpine tundra's characteristics are mountainy regions that have tussock grasses, dwarf trees, small-leafed shrubs, and heaths. All of the animals have adapted greatly to each climate.

Biones different terrains and vegetations.
The six main Biones are freshwater, marine, desert, grasslands forest, and tundra
Freshwater
lakes, ponds, streams, and rivers All these places have not a lot of salt in the water.
Marine
oceans,coral reefs,and oceans estuaries
they have many cool fish
Desert
hot an dry,semiarid,and coastal
the desert has many cool sites.
forest
tropical,temperate,and boreal
the tropical forest has many cool animals.
grasslands
savanna,and temperate
they are mostly flat.
tundra
arctic,and alpine
its very cold

1.How or what the terrain is like.
2.freshwater, marine, deserts, forests, grassland, and tundra.
3.*The characteristics of fresh water is the water has no salt and is located near trees, fresh water bioms contain alot of fishes, and alot of green plants are by it.
*marine biomes has alot of salt water, many coral reefs, and has not very many speicies like on land.
*Desert are mostly very hot and dry.
*Forests have many trees, mammals, and the forest have very poor nutrient soil.
*Grasslands are flat with allot of grass and shrubs, the place is flat and the climate is either hot or warm.
*The tundra is the coldest biome, has a short spring time, land has little nutrition and has the lowest temperatures.
Sarah.
Biome is the different types of climate around the world. There is the freshwater, marine, desert, forest, grassland, tundra. Freshwater has ponds and lakes, streams and rivers, wetlands, trees and plants. Marine has oceans, coral reefs, estuaries, fish and sea plants. Desert has hot and dry desert, semiarid desert, costal desert, and cold desert. The Forest has tropical forest, temparate forest, and boreal forest. Grassland has savanna, and temparate grassland. And tundra has artic tundra, alpine tundra, Ice cold.

1.Biomes- The organisms that surround us.
2.Freshwater, Marine, Desert, Forest, Grassland, and Tundra.
3.Freshwater-Open water that is good to humans and animals.
Marine-Various types of fish that live in the oceans.
Desert-Dry, hot sand located in lots of places.
Forest-A place with a lot of trees.
Grassland- A place with grass and the place is surrounded by mountains.
Tundra-a place covered with snow.

1) Fresh water is the worlds major communitites, classified according to the predominant vegetation and by adaptions of organisms to that particular environment (camp bell 1996)
2) Fresh water, Marine, Desert, Grassland, Tundra
3) Fresh water- is a low salt concentration usually less then 1%
Marine- cover about 3/4 of the Earth's surface and include ocean, coral, reefs and estuaries.
Deserts- Cover about 1/5 of the Earth's surface and occure were rainfall less than 50 cm/year.
Forest- about 420 million years ago, ancient plant's and arthopds began to occupy the land.
Grassland- Characterized as lands dominated by grasses rather than large shrubs or tree's.
Tundra- Coldest of all the biomes, comes from the finish word tuntri meaning treeless pain.

2. Fresh water, Marine, Desert, Forest, Grassland, Tundra.
3.Freshwater- Low salt concentration.
Marine- Cover three fourths of Earth's surface includes oceans, coral and reefs.
Desert- Cover one fifth of Earth's surface rainfall is less than 50 cm a year.
Forest- dominated by giant horse trails, club mosses and ferns.
Grassland- dominated by grasses rather than shrubs or trees.
Tundra- Treeless plain, low temp, frost molded landscapes.

Grassland-
1.My definition on biome is the world major communities. The global biotic community such a the desert or grassland.
2. The major biomes in our planet are deserts, freshwater, marine, forest, grassland, and the tundra.
3.Their characteristics are for the desert its hot, dry, semiarid, coastal, and cold.
The freshwater is the ponds, lakes, streams, rivers, and wetlands.
The marine are the oceans, coral reefs, and estuaries.
The forests are the tropical, temperate, and Boreal forest(taiga).
The grasslands are grasslands savannas, and the temperate grasslands.
The tundras are the arctic tundra, and the alpine tundra.

1.Biome is talking about different places and locations.
2.They are Freshwater,Marine,Desert,Forest,Grassland, and Tundra.
3.The freshwater has some ponds, lakes, and some wetland. And it 's not salty.
The Marine has some oceans, coral reefs, and estuaries.
The desert is hot, dry, cold, and semiarid.
The forest has trees, tropical, and rivers. The temperate is 20-25 c.
The grassland has lots of grass. Grassland also have some tropical on the land.
The tundra has some cold climate, short season, large population, low biotic, and characteristic.

1. Biomes organize the places that people live like the penguin lives in a tundra, and to organize that a horny toad lives in warmer temperatures we say that the horny toad lives in the desert climate.
2. The major Biomes of the world are ,fresh water, marine, desert, forest, grassland, and tundra.
3. Fresh Water: There are ponds, rivers, lakes, and anything or any place that has a lot of rain and it makes the ground wet.
Marine: Marine is in water where animals like fish and so on live.
Desert: Hot and dry not a lot of rain. Very dry ground.
Forest: Trees that are bunched together and there are little and big animals that live in that area, there are also plants in there and it is all in a huge location.
Grassland: Small shrubs scattered over a long distance like a plane.
Tundra: It is where there is a lot of snowfall and that snow fell over grass and other things.

freshwater: water that is fresh ponds and in lakes is where it is found.
marine: covers three fourths of earths surface and is the ocean.
desert: dry hot and sometimes cold.

2.The six major biomes are freshwater, marine, desert, forest, grassland, and tundra.
3.Freshwater biomes have a low percent of salt they are found in rivers, lakes, ponds, and wetlands.
Marine biomes cover three-fourths of the Earth's surface and they are the oceans.
desert biomes cover one-fifth of Earth's surface they get about 50 cm of rain each year.
forest biomes have been around for millions of years and some of the kinds of forest are tropical, temperate, and boreal forests.
grasslands are dominated by grass rather than shrubs and tress th4ey are the savanna and temperate grasslands.
tundra biomes are the coldest and have low temperatures, poor nutrients, and short growing seasons.

1) I think Biomes are the worlds major communities.
2) The six Biomes are freshwater, marines, deserts, forests, grasslands and tundras.
3)The types of characteristics I found were...
> Freshwater- Not very salty water, and small bodies of water in them such as lakes, ponds, streams, and rivers.
> Marines- large bodies of water, and the water is very salty. (Ocean)
> Desert- No water, it is hot, alot of mountains, and very dry like the Coastal, Cold, and Semiarid desserts
> Forest- alot of trees and grass, fresh air, and little bodies of water. (Tropical, Temperate, and Boreal forests)
> Grasslands- alot of grass, not alot of water, and flat grounds such as the Savannas and the Temperate grasslands.
> Tundras- No flat grounds, some water spots, some snow spots, and little bit of grass like the Artic and the Alpine Tundras.
